Reframing Worlds_Gender and Mobility during the Colonial Encounter (2015-2018)

With generous support from the Haupstadtkulturfonds, Berlin                                    Exhibition: November 2017 – January 2018
A cooperation between neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK), Galerie im Körnerpark, Berlin and a group of curators and artists: Oliver Baurhenn, Dorothee Bienert, Marisa Maza, Antje Weitzel, Jole Wilcke and Moira Zoit.

Taking a decidedly postcolonial and feminist perspective, the project looks at the relation between gender and mobility during the peak of European colonialism. It focuses on the role of female explorers, often neglected/ignored by the history of science, and on the various, inherent subject-positions: the explorer, the female explorer, and the subject of research / study.
