Marisa Maza is an artist who works in the field of video and photography. Since the early 1990s, Maza’s work has focused on issues of gender, sexuality and identity as well as on the political and social construction of bodies and their media representation. Furthermore, the human body and typologies of real, fictional and/or simulated (urban) landscapes were thematized as (metaphorical) systems for the inscription of sociopolitical conditions. Since 2014, Maza has been a guest lecturer at the Universität der Künste ("Studium Generale") where she taught on issues of migration, gender and economics in relation to processes of art production.
